Blomsma starts the signage for the Merkur transformer platform

Geplaatst op 27 October 2017

Blomsma Signs & Safety has started implementing the safety signage for the Merkur transformer station, on instructions from Engie Fabricom Hoboken. The Merkur offshore transformer station will be placed about 45 km north of the island of Borkum in the German part of the North Sea.

The offshore transformer station will be given safety signage in line with the latest legislation and regulations such as ASR 1.3. Our experience and knowledge of offshore platforms for the wind energy sector (BorWin, Helwin, Dolwin, Global Tech 1) have been applied in the comprehensive signage plan that has been drawn up. The project comprises the engineering of a signage plan, implementation of escape route signage and fire prevention signage, as well as composite boards with the relevant warning, instruction and prohibition symbols. A team of Blomsma fitters started applying the safety signage this morning at the Engie Fabricom dock in Hoboken (Belgium).

The Merkur Offshore project is one of the largest offshore wind projects in Germany, consisting of 66 wind turbines. The wind farm will produce about 1,750 GWh annually.
