Blomsma awarded safety signage for the Norther OHVS platform

Geplaatst op 30 May 2018

Blomsma Signs & Safety has been awarded the contract by Engie Fabricom for safety signage for the Norther Offshore High-Voltage Station (OHVS). The project will be implemented using our tried-and-tested Total Project Service (TPS) method.

The Norther OHVS will be given safety signage in line with the latest legislation and regulations plus the best practices from previously realised offshore transformer platforms. Escape route marking will be provided, along with fire prevention resource marking and customised signage for indicating hazards, instructions and prohibitions. Recent developments from ISO 24409 will be applied as far as possible, also in the light of the fact that this norm will soon be directly linked to IMO legislation.

The Norther project is the second project for Blomsma at Engie Fabricom. Blomsma recently implemented the safety signage for the Merkur offshore transformer platform project for Fabricom. Other current and previously realised safety signage projects for offshore transformer platforms include BorWin A, HelWin, DolWin A, Global Tech 1, Borssele A, Riffgrund, Kriegers Flak and many others.

Norther is an offshore wind farm that will consist of 44 wind turbines with a maximum capacity of 370MW. The wind farm is located about 23 kilometres from Zeebrugge in the Belgian part of the North Sea. The Norther OHVS transforms the energy that is collected from 33kV to 220kV and exports it to the national grid via an export cable.
