In 2010 HFG’s Zwijndrecht fabrication facility has been awarded the contract for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction of the DolWin alpha HVDC platform by ABB Sweden.
The topsides consists of a 5-deck level structure. To maintain the tight schedule for the construction of the topsides it was decided to split the topsides in 2 modules, fabricated in parallel. Those modules were assembled at the Heerema Zwijndrecht yard.
Blomsma Signs & Safety was contracted by Heerema Fabrication Group to realize a complete signage system, covering all aspects off safety signage. The project started with development of a signplan, which was based on the provided general arrangement drawings. The signplan was evaluated by class and approved for construction.
During the installation several parallel projects started; the production and installation of pipe marking and tank marking, valve and equipment tags and the Platform Identification signs.
After the installation of the platform offshore, ABB contracted Blomsma Signs & Safety for several upgrades and signage of hook-up items. The signplan has been the basis for managing all updates and upgrades during the entire period.
