Safety drawings

The role of safety drawings

Safety drawings are an integral part of a safety policy. They have an informative, operational and management function and can, in specific cases, be prescribed by laws and regulations and be subject to controls and inspections. These drawings can be essential for the (licensed) use of a site, building, object, and/or installation. There are various applications for safety drawings; evacuation plans, safety plans, fire water network drawings, fire attack plans, rescue equipment drawings, etc. These drawings are the basis of a safety philosophy, the power of well-designed drawings is a fast transfer of information, insight and overview.

Safety drawings harmonized

Given the crucial role that the drawings have, the use of standards and regulations for a harmonized representation is essential. This ensures a transfer of information that is understandable to the user. And that is what it is all about; these drawings have a purpose, and that is, above all, that they are understood and readable.

Legislation

Laws and regulations vary for geographical areas, countries and maritime objects. So do the laws, regulations and standards for land and offshore objects. Conditions on ships and offshore platforms are different from those in buildings, on factory premises, in workshops and other public spaces on land. Our advice and projects comply with set (inter)national guidelines, legislation which is often translated into standards for a practical and uniform approach.

Our specialists know the regulations of each standard and know how to translate the prescribed information needs and requirements into understandable drawings.
