Safety Signage project DolWin Alpha nearing completion

Geplaatst op 7 August 2013

The complex safety signage for the DolWin Alpha platform is in the final phase of the project. German legislations are primarily designed for onshore installations, this makes the implementation of the safety signs a healthy challenge. The dimensions of the platform (65x45x55mtr) demands a thoughtful implementation. Blomsma Signs & Safety has realized the complete signing from an engineered signplan.

The transformer DolWin Alpha platform with a 800 MW transmission link is stationed in the German North Sea. (between Denmark and Germany)

The basic principles for the project are German laws and regulations, combined with international laws (IMO / SOLAS) and ISO standards. In addition, best practices from the offshore market applied to the use of materials and escape philosophy.

During the installation phase, a temporary escape route guidance is installed which directs to the hotel platform, in the opposite direction of the routes of the normal operational situation. The permanent escape route signage will be coverd during this phase to prevent any mistakes.

Blomsma Signs & Safety took all efforts to match the safety signage; the escape route signs and fire and rescue equipment signs are similar regarding materials and legislative basis. All symbols on the evacuation plans are uniform with the installed signage.
